USPS Loading Docks and Parking Facilities
As part of a term contract that the firm has had with the United States Postal Service (USPS) for over 30 years, Foit-Albert Associates provided design and construction services for the reconstruction of existing loading docks and parking facilities at a USPS Processing and Distribution Center facility in Rochester, NY.
The team developed construction drawings, specifications, and estimates for new parking lots, loading docks, stormwater management systems, and incidental site features as well as detailed phasing and staging plans to maintain critical facility operations. Foit-Albert also prepared a Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) and performed weekly SWPPP inspections in compliance with NYSDEC requirements.
Foit-Albert was responsible for Construction Administration work, including reviewing shop drawings and payment applications, answering field questions and RFIs, and conducting biweekly construction progress meetings with the Contractor and USPS staff.
Challenge/Solution The loading docks and parking lot cannot be shut down as this is a 24-7 operation. Complex phasing was required to maintain USPS operations at this essential processing facility to maintain continuous operation and security.
