Structural Engineering Project Manager

Seeking a Licensed Professional Engineer to join our engineering group as a Project Manager for Bridge Structures and Roadway Design. The successful candidate will have a minimum of ten years of bridge structural engineering experience and at least three years of managing structural projects, specifically in the bridge and highway engineering field as related to NYSDOT and LDSA projects.

As a Project Manager, the Engineer will be responsible for planning, scheduling, developing, coordinating, directing, and managing large and small design projects for local, state and federal government and private clients. The Engineer will prepare related reports and studies and secure permitting for projects; be responsible for developing and evaluating plans and criteria for projects; plan and coordinate with in-house engineers, designers, surveyors and subconsultants. Engineer will be expected to contribute to marketing of the firm and development of new business by initiating and maintaining contacts with current clients and key individuals of other organizations and companies.

Qualifications:

  • 8-10 years working as a bridge designer with demonstrated career growth that includes 3+ years project management of bridge structural projects
  • NYS Professional Engineering license preferred
  • Proficient technical writing and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and MicroStation
  • B.S. Civil Engineering
  • Familiar with New York State Department of Transportation specifications
  • Familiar with the LDSA process for working with local municipalities
  • Ability to design prestressed concrete or steel girder bridges according to NYS standards and codes

Civil/Site Engineer – Buffalo, NY

Seeking a qualified Civil/Site Engineer with 5-10 years of relevant experience to design and manage a variety of private and public projects.  Civil/Site Engineer will play a role in all phases of projects from development of design concepts through construction administration.  Foit-Albert is a multi-disciplinary design firm, and this individual will partner with architects, engineers, landscape architects, surveyors and support staff on projects.  This is a unique opportunity for a motivated individual that would like to continue to grow their career while working on a variety of site, civil, and water resource projects.

Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering or Landscape Architecture (Master’s a plus)
  • 5 or more years of relevant civil/site work experience
  • Highly proficient in AutoCAD and Civil 3D
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Clear and effective  technical writing and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities:

  • Perform design work for civil engineering projects that may involve site layout, paving and roadway design, grading and drainage design, stormwater management, sanitary sewer and water, and erosion control.
  • Duties may include reviewing of applicable standards and regulations, developing conceptual layouts, preparing construction drawings and specifications, preparing design calculations and compiling reports, completing quantity takeoffs and cost estimates, and preparing other associated project deliverables.
  • Complete quality work within budgets and timelines. Collaborate on project status, schedules, and design and construction issues.
  • Coordinate, delegate, and evaluate work of junior designers. Mentor junior design staff.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, representatives of other governmental agencies, contractors, and clients.
  • Coordinate with other consultants and local and state agencies.
  • Conduct/coordinate construction administration and periodic site visits to monitor quality and work progress.
  • Attend meetings with multi-disciplinary teams and client.
  • Stormwater experience desired, including design of stormwater management practices and conveyance systems, analyzing watersheds, green infrastructure, and stream modeling using HEC-RAS.
  • Experience in preparation of SWPPP’s desired. Knowledge of stormwater management regulations, including NYSDEC and City of Buffalo.

General responsibilities will include performing on-site inspection of various heavy highway and/or bridge rehabilitation/replacement projects. Qualified Team Leader candidate will be a NYS Professional Engineer with at least 3 years of recent experience in bridge design or inspection. Qualified Assistant Team Leader candidate will at minimum have an AAS degree in civil or structural technology and 2 years of bridge inspection experience. Seeking a Land Survey Project Manager with a minimum of eight years of experience managing various Land Survey projects, project personnel, interfacing with clients, survey calculations and property line determination and CADD drafting. Must be experienced with New York State Department of Transportation Land Surveying and Mapping Standards and be proficient with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D, Carlson Survey, Microsoft Word and Excel, with a working knowledge of Trimble GPS, robotic total stations and data collection.
