General Mills Boat Dock – Permitting
Foit-Albert Associates was contracted to provide professional engineering services for phase 1 inspections & assessment of the grain elevator boat dock at the General Mills Buffalo Cereal Plant along the City Ship Canal. The Buffalo Cereal Plant functions as one of the main cereal production facilities for General Mills.
Environmental work focused on permitting related issues. New York State Department of State (NYSDOS) maps were consulted in order to comply with State Coastal Policies (State Coastal Management Program Areas), the Coastal Erosion Hazard Areas program (State Coastal Erosion Hazard Areas), and the Coastal Barrier Resources Act (Federal Coastal Barrier Resources System). Review of NYSDOS, New York State Coastal Boundary Maps indicated that the project area was located within the designated NYSDOS “Landward Coastal Boundary”. A Federal Consistency Assessment Form (FCAF) along with a USACE/NYSDEC Joint Application Permit was submitted to the NYSDOS for the project. Permits from NYSDOS, USACE and NYSDEC were subsequently approved and granted for the project.
