
NYSTA Grand Island Welcome Center
Foit-Albert Associates, as a subconsultant, is on a term contract with the New York State Thruway Authority for Highway Design in Albany, Syracuse & Buffalo Divisions.
Under the first term assignment, Foit-Albert was responsible for engineering services related to construction of a one floor, 12,628 square foot Welcome Center situated between the I-190 southbound ramp and Alvin Road in Grand Island, NY.
The scope of our work involved site layout, traffic analysis, grading design and drainage, water plans, permitting, construction documents, estimating and Work Zone Traffic Control plans.
Foit-Albert Engineers provided traffic count summaries; full layout of the site, including lane widths and curvature and drainage and grading for all driveways, parking, and landscape areas surrounding the new Welcome Center building and approach roadway; 100% plans for the site water service plans, including design of the fire and domestic backflow prevention devices and hot box; design and details for a 7’ to 8’ fill type retaining wall for bus parking lot area; a WZTC plan for the project along with a signage and striping plan; plans and details for wayfinding signs to be located on both ends of Alvin Road; and estimates with this work.
