Mercy College Tarrytown Campus Site Improvements
As prime consultant, Foit-Albert Associates provided site/civil engineering, landscape design, electrical engineering, and surveying services for Mercy College’s site improvement project at their Tarrytown campus. Foit-Albert evaluated existing circulation, and provided the College with alternatives to improve connectivity, creating pedestrian connections and designing more efficient parking lots to allow for additional car and bus parking.
Scope included sidewalks and crosswalks with ADA compliant design, electric vehicle charging stations, bike racks, custom signage and stairs/retaining walls, new lighting and emergency call boxes, and closed drainage system for the redesigned parking areas. Additional work included landscape design for inclusion of planted islands, bioretention plantings and green infrastructure design, and preparation of Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP).
Challenges & Solutions: The final design provided additional parking to meet programmatic requirements of the campus, developing creative solutions to utilize existing paved area to limit site disturbance and reduce cost.
