Electric Substation and Green Hydrogen Fuel Production Plant
Foit-Albert Associates provided design services and construction administration for high-hazard facilities and administrative buildings serving a $290 million green hydrogen fuel production plant and electric substation and in Genesee County. Architectural design efforts included the Electrolyzer, Liquefaction and Operations & Maintenance, Control and Ancillary support buildings throughout the site. Foit-Albert’s designs delivered the proper enclosures for high-hazard equipment, while utilizing efficient pre-engineered building technologies in an innovative way to create the purposeful and function-driven enclosures. They simultaneously provided the required aesthetics to meet with local planning ordinances and reaction to public input.
The scope of our services entailed:
• Preliminary code evaluation for determination of multi-building siting, size and proximities for the High Hazard occupancies, as well as containment area analysis to minimize resulting construction complexity and cost. Architectural design, interior design, ongoing code review, drawings, and written specifications for architectural scope for three buildings.
• Plumbing construction bid documents based on preliminary design provided by client and to include domestic water, sanitary drainage, and storm drainage systems within the proposed 3 buildings including water service entrance, meters and backflow devises, interior restrooms, floor/trench drains, hose bibbs and breakrooms.
• Fire protection construction bid documents based on Primary Design provided by client and to include code reviews, system selection and design criteria, site fire water demands including possible storage and/or pump requirements, delegated design drawings and specifications
• HVAC Construction Bid Documents for the Operations & Maintenance and Control Buildings
• Fire Alarm Construction Bid Documents for the Electrolyzer, Liquefaction, Operations & Maintenance, and Control buildings
