Main Street Multi-Modal Access
Foit-Albert Associates performed preliminary design services related to station rehabilitation and location for the City of Buffalo and its plan to bring “Cars Back On Main Street.” Foit-Albert approached the architectural design of the replacement stations with a clear understanding of the need to address long-term maintenance, handicap accessibility for compliance to ADA requirements, and architectural compatibility at various locations. It was critical that the new designs address material quality, detail, application, weather factors, security and vandalism issues, as well as budget constraints as they apply to maintenance and upkeep. The project also involved preliminary surveying, utilizing the existing base mapping related to the original design of the Light Rail Rapid Transit System. The crew then compiled the information, determined horizontal and vertical controls and integrated current site conditions for the final mapping document.
