Herschell Carrousel Museum
Foit-Albert Associates was contracted by The Carousel Society of the Niagara Frontier for professional consultant services in conjunction with restoration of the historic Allan Herschell Company Office Building, which is listed on the New York State and National Registers of Historic Places.
Foit-Albert was responsible for the complete design from schematic through the preparation of contract documents, bidding services and construction administration services.
Project Details: The historic building was significantly structurally compromised. Work included jacking the building, installation of a shallow, frost-free foundation, complete roof replacement, interior structural system, new siding and windows, restoration of the original office and provision of meeting and training space.
Aesthetically, the building was restored to its historical original likeness.
The goal was to provide an appropriate space for museum presented classes, generate additional revenue by renting out the facility to other groups, and optimize use of funds for operation of the building by way of energy optimization.
