Foit-Albert Associates provided full-service architecture and engineering services for townhouse condominiums located on the landmark Gates Circle in Buffalo, New York. Seven-unit and five-unit townhouses respond to the unique context that each face. Chateaux-style detailing adorns 3-story brick and stone townhouses. Victorian clapboard siding was the more appropriate choice for the 2-story units on the adjacent residential side street.
Active engagement of an informed and involved Elmwood Village community was critical to the successful first-time approvals by the planning board, preservation board, and zoning board of the City of Buffalo.
The seven Gates Circle Townhomes face the Gates Circle Fountain and are 3,900 square feet with three stories and up to four bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms. The five Lancaster Avenue Townhomes are 2,500 square feet, two-story residences with 3 bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms. The project is one of many high-end new-build projects in the dense urban historic neighborhood.
