SUNY Geneseo MacVittie Union

Foit-Albert’s Structural Engineer performed an emergency structural assessment of the existing structural framing for the MacVittie College Union. A report providing a summation of the observation, along with recommendations for repairs, was distributed to the State University Construction Fund and the College.

Follow-up work included preparation of construction documents to permanently repair problems and to enclose an existing dock at the building.

Project Details During an electric and steam reconstruction project, deteriorated structural members were discovered prior to design. Foit-Albert’s Structural Engineers conducted site inspections of the building and produced a detailed inspection report documenting the existing conditions of the structural framing and related load bearing system for the rear of the MacVitte College Union.

Foit-Albert was then contracted to make permanent repairs to the building’s damaged structural systems, remove the temporary shoring and to replace/reinstall damaged finishes and fenestration associated with the original structural damage.
