Engineering and Construction Inspection Positions

Foit-Albert Associates is seeking experienced engineering staff for our Albany, Buffalo, and New York City offices.

Civil Engineer / Project Manager: Seeking a highly talented and hardworking Civil Engineer with an emphasis on Structural Engineering / Project Management with 7 to 10 years of experience, for immediate employment in our Albany or Buffalo, NY, office. Preferred qualifications include:

• BS in Civil Engineering with a concentration in Structural Engineering
• NYS E.I.T. or P.E. license.
• Strong working familiarity with NYSDOT standards and specifications, NYSTA and LDSA projects.
• Strong writing and communication skills, able to prepare comprehensive engineering reports.
• Organized and detail oriented.
• Working knowledge of Bridge Design Software such as Merlin Dash, Simon for Steel Bridges, AASHTOware Bridge Design and Load Rating program.
• Capability in productivity software such as MathCad, Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat or Blue Beam.
• Experience with AutoCADD and Microstation.
• Experience in assisting in the development of construction drawings and design specifications.
• Ability to coordinate with other engineers during planning, design and construction administration phases of projects. Ability to communicate with clients and communicate their needs to staff.
• Team player who is enthusiastic about all aspects of engineering and project management and can lead projects from planning and preliminary engineering through design and construction.
• Must have good communication skills and be able to relate well to project team and clients.

Environmental Technician: Seeking an Environmental Technician with 3-5 years of experience for fieldwork on projects located throughout New York State. Required:

• Project Monitor/Air Sampling Technician, current licensing.
• Wetland delineation experience.
• Microsoft Office experience.
• Good writing skills.
• CADD experience a plus.

Resident Engineer, NICET IV or equivalent: Seeking an experienced Resident Engineer NICET Level IV or equivalent in a full- or part-time capacity to administer an ongoing Bridge Replacement Project. The project is Shady Tree Lane Bridge in Schoharie County near Cobleskill, NY. One NICET Level IV equivalent inspector is currently on the site. The role of this posted position would be to back up and manage the current inspector, handle all paperwork which mainly flows through the APPIA program, and lead job meetings. Bridge Designer: Seeking an experienced Bridge CADD designer with a minimum of five years of design experience, specifically in the bridge engineering field. The successful candidate will be responsible for the production of detailed structural drawings for a variety of bridge and road construction projects. Experience in MicroStation, AutoCAD, Word and Excel required. Working knowledge and relevant experience with New York State and municipal CAD standards, including NYSDOT CAD standards a plus. Associates degree (minimum), 5+ years experience. This position is in Albany, NY.

Junior Civil Engineer: Seeking a Junior Civil Engineer to fill an immediate opening in our growing Engineering Group. Primary responsibilities will include performing design calculations, developing design plans, and preparing contract documents for Municipal and State owned highway and bridge rehabilitation/reconstruction projects. Qualified candidates will have a B.S. in Civil Engineering including classes in Structural and Highway design, passed the Engineer-In-Training exam, 0-5 years of relevant experience, working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, Mathcad, and AutoCadd or Microstation. Previous internship with a consulting engineering firm preferred but not required. Experience with bridge design/analysis software such as LEAP, Merlin Dash, AASHTOWARE preferred but not required. This position is in Albany, NY.

Engineering Technician: Seeking a Civil Engineering Technician to fill an immediate opening in our growing Engineering Group. Primary responsibilities will include performing design calculations, developing construction cost estimates, and detailing of design plans for Municipal and State owned highway and bridge rehabilitation/reconstruction projects. Qualified candidates will have an A.A.S. in Civil Engineering Technology including classes in Structural and Highway design, working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, working knowledge of AutoCadd or Microstation. This position is in Albany, NY.

Bridge Inspectors: Seeking Bridge Inspection Team Leader and Assistant Team Leader for NYSDOT Biennial Bridge Inspection contract in Region 6. Qualified Team Leader candidate will be a NYS Professional Engineer with at least 3 years of recent experience in bridge design or inspection. Qualified Assistant Team Leader candidate will at minimum have an AAS degree in civil or structural technology and 2 years of bridge inspection experience. Candidates must be physically capable of working at heights, on ladders, scaffolding and aerial lift or under-bridge inspection equipment. Must be able to climb, work in confined spaces or under adverse weather conditions as required.

Construction Inspectors: Seeking resumes for NICET III/IV inspectors with a minimum of 6 to 10 years of experience in inspection of heavy highway and bridge rehabilitation/replacement projects. Prior Locally Administered, NYSDOT and/or NYS Thruway experience required. Also seeking NICET II inspectors with a minimum of 2 to 5 years of experience in inspection of heavy highway and bridge rehabilitation/replacement projects. Construction Inspection candidates should have experience working with NYSDOT Standard Specifications for Construction and Materials and NYSDOT Manual of Uniform Record Keeping (MURK) along with APPIA construction management software. General responsibilities will include performing on-site inspection of various heavy highway and/or bridge rehabilitation/replacement projects. All positions require a combination of both office and field duties. Positions are expected to start in the late summer 2018 and carry into future construction seasons. Duration varies depending upon the assignment.

Construction Inspection Project Manager: Seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee multiple Construction Inspection projects. The successful candidate will have strong construction inspection management experience with bridge and highway projects. Knowledge and relevant experience with Locally Administered, NYSDOT and/or NYS Thruway projects is required. Full- or part-time considered.

Land Surveying Positions

Foit-Albert Associates is seeking experienced Land Surveying staff for our busy Survey department in both our Albany and Buffalo offices.

Survey Project Manager with a minimum of eight years of experience managing various Land Survey projects, project personnel, interfacing with clients, survey calculations and property line determination and CADD drafting. Must be proficient with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Word and Excel, with a working knowledge of Trimble GPS, robotic total stations and data collection. A minimum of an AAS in Surveying Technology or a BS in Surveying Engineering is required. NYS PLS a plus. Some field work and travel may be required.

Survey CADD Technician with a minimum of five years of experience with AutoCAD and surveying software. Must be experienced with CADD drafting of boundary surveys, ALTA/ACSM Land Title Surveys, topographic surveys, utility surveys, record surveys and acquisition mapping using Carlson Survey software. Microstation experience a plus.

Survey Crew Chief with a minimum of five years of field experience in boundary, ALTA, topographic, GPS and construction surveys. Some travel may be required.

Survey Instrument Person with a minimum of five years of experience with Trimble GPS and data collection equipment. Some travel may be required.
